Port Site Obstructed Hernia in a Morbidly Obese Patient: A Case Report

Indications for laparoscopic surgeries are increasing in the current era view of advantages they offer terms less perioperative morbidities, early mobilization, and better cosmesis. These benefits perceived even more obese women. However, there special challenges this population, associated with their body habitus, poor visibility, anesthesia risks. Difficulty port closure is one such problem encountered these women causing inadequate rectus suturing leading to site hernia. We report a case 59-year-old morbidly lady who underwent total hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pelvic lymph node dissection carcinoma endometrium. The intraoperative course was uneventful. In postoperative period, she developed acute obstruction due herniation small bowel, which not suspected till day five. This an inaccurate assessment her abdomen because habitus. A CT scan done non-resolving obstruction, revealed bowel loop through umbilical port. Immediate correction resorted under local anesthesia. Rectus sheath same sitting. patient had quick recovery after that discharged three days later. should be all ports 10 mm or greater diameter. There low threshold get cross-sectional imaging gastrointestinal symptoms.
